Provision of fish passage at Escott Causeway, Gin Arm Causeway and Burketown Doomadgee Road Causeway
- Building on the prioritisation process carried out in 2005 that identified a number of barriers to migration in the rivers of the southern Gulf of Carpentaria.
- Three sites were identified for remediation, with various rock-ramp and cone type fishways built at each site, dependant on the site conditions.
- Project provided the first fishways on any river flowing to the Gulf.
- Monitoring demonstrated the success of the designs at passing local fish communities.
