Mackay Whitsunday Fish Community Condition Survey 2007, 2017, 2018

The Mackay Whitsunday Fish Community Condition Survey was the first comprehensive fish community survey in the Mackay Whitsunday region. The survey provided a baseline assessment of the freshwater and estuarine fish community condition throughout the region and was used extensively in the Mackay Whitsunday Water Quality Improvement Plan. The survey was undertaken by AFPS staff over a twelve-month period, incorporating sampling pre and post wet season to provide an accurate account of the fish communities present under varying environmental conditions. Sampling occurred in 14 of the 38 catchments in the region and utilised both electrofishing and netting techniques.
