All Aspects of Fish Passage Construction

New Zealand Fishways 2025

Following the 2023–2024 Fish Passage Workshops held across New Zealand, AFPS has been working closely with multiple councils to design and deliver a series of rock‑ramp fishways nationwide. These collaborations are helping to translate workshop guidance into on‑ground outcomes, with AFPS providing technical support from concept design through to construction to improve fish passage and waterway connectivity at priority sites. Importantly, these new fishways also serve as demonstration and study sites, allowing councils and practitioners to observe performance in real conditions and build capability for future projects.
