Sandringham Lagoon 2006-2009

AFPS staff supervised the extensive rehabilitation of Sandringham Lagoon, near Mackay in Central Queensland. Rehabilitation involved the removal of extensive weed mats that were choking the lagoon and the construction of fish habitat and fishways downstream. AFPS carried out fish community and water quality monitoring at the site before, during and after the project, with results indicating that there were significant increases in fish populations, the number of fish species and the water quality of the lagoon following rehabilitation.
