Yeppen Lagoon Log Fish Hotels 2018

The gradual sedimentation of the sub-tropical Yeppen Lagoon at Rockhampton has reduced the amount of fish habitat available impacting on fisheries productivity. In partnership with the Fitzroy Basin Association, AFPS undertook the installation of log ‘fish hotels’ to increase the amount of habitat available to the fish community. The log hotels were constructed on site by AFPS and then lowered into the water in a suitable location. The fish hotels have been very successful and have been demonstrated to hold large numbers of both small and large fish.
