Fitzroy Barrage Cone Fishway 2015

AFPS designed and supervised construction of, in conjunction with the Fitzroy Basin Association, a cone fishway on the Fitzroy River near Rockhampton, Queensland. The design incorporated a cone fishway to complement the existing vertical slot fishway. This was required as the existing vertical slot fishway, designed in the 90’s, could not pass the small and juvenile fish that often-required passage past the weir. AFPS undertook the sampling to demonstrate the inadequacy of the existing fishway and then created a suitable design for the site and oversaw the implementation of the design and conducted monitoring that demonstrated the success of the new design.
